   Head towards Ang Thong National Marine Park, cruising past scenic islands on the way.

   Snorkelling at Koh Wow

   Around 45 minutes at a sheltered reef that the big group boats simply do not stop at.

5. 11:35

   Koh Wua Talap (Sleeping Cow Island)

   The park headquarters. Hike up to the Koh Wua Talap viewpoint, also known as Pha Jun Jaras, for the classic panorama across all 42 islands, explore Tham Bua Bok cave with its lotus-shaped rock formations, then swim, kayak or unwind on the beach.

6. 13:00

   Buffet lunch and free time on Koh Paluay

   The peaceful home of the local sea gypsy community.

7. 15:00

   Koh Mae Ko and the Thale Nai Emerald Lake

   Climb the stairway above this hidden saltwater lagoon, encircled by towering limestone cliffs, for the most photographed view in the park.

8. 16:10

   Head back to Koh Samui

   Leave Ang Thong and cruise back towards Koh Samui.

   Arrive back on Koh Samui

How to Get to Ang Thong from Koh Samui

Mu Ko Ang Thong lies roughly 30 km north-west of Koh Samui and there is no public ferry to the islands – the park can only be visited with a licensed tour operator. By speedboat the crossing takes about 45 to 60 minutes each way, while a big boat needs around 1 hour 15 minutes. That difference is exactly why a speedboat tour fits more of the park into one day.

Ang Thong National Marine Park tickets and entrance fee

The park entrance fee is 300 THB per adult and 150 THB per child. It is collected on site by the National Park authority, is not included in the tour price and cannot be paid by card, so please bring it in cash on the day.

Good to Know Before You Book

• How demanding is the viewpoint hike? Koh Wua Talap has 6 viewpoints, and the highest of them is the Koh Wua Talap viewpoint known as Pha Jun Jaras – shown as Pha Chan Charat on Google Maps. It is a steep climb of roughly 500 metres over stepping stones and bare limestone, with rope handrails and rest platforms along the way, and the reward at the top is a 360-degree panorama across the whole archipelago. Our guide can take you all the way up, but reaching it does require a good level of fitness. If it starts to feel too demanding, you can stop at the first two or three viewpoints and still enjoy a magnificent panorama – it is entirely your choice on the day.
• How many people are on board? Our speedboat carries around 30 to 50 guests, compared with up to 150 on a big boat. It is a faster and livelier ride, so if you would rather have a slower and steadier day at sea, the Ang Thong big boat tour may suit you better.
• The programme can change. The order of the stops, and occasionally the stops themselves, depend on the weather and sea conditions on the day – your guide will confirm the plan on board.
• When the park is closed. Mu Ko Ang Thong closes every year during the monsoon, from 1 November to 15 December, and no tours run in that window.
• Who cannot join: pregnant women, children under 1 year of age, and guests with medical conditions that make boat travel or hiking unsafe.
