Why book this Angthong Marine Park big boat tour

  • A comfortable, stable ride – a large vessel handles the open sea far more smoothly than a small boat, which makes a real difference on a breezy day and for anyone prone to seasickness.
  • Room to move around – shaded indoor seating, an open-air sun deck and toilets on board throughout the day.
  • A proper Thai buffet lunch served on the boat, plus snacks, fruit, coffee, tea, soft drinks and drinking water all day.
  • Unhurried time ashore – nearly three hours on Koh Wua Talap for the viewpoint, the cave or simply the beach.
  • Both of the park’s headline sights – the famous Koh Wua Talap viewpoint and the Thale Nai Emerald Lake on Koh Mae Ko.
  • Round-trip hotel transfers included from anywhere on Koh Samui.

How to Get to Ang Thong from Koh Samui

Mu Ko Ang Thong lies roughly 30 km north-west of Koh Samui and there is no public ferry to the islands – the park can only be visited with a licensed tour operator. Good to Know Before You Book

  • How demanding is the viewpoint hike? The trail up to the Koh Wua Talap viewpoint (Pha Jun Jaras, shown as Pha Chan Charat on Google Maps) is a steep climb of roughly 500 metres over stepping stones and bare limestone, with rope handrails and rest platforms along the way. The reward at the top is a 360-degree panorama across the whole archipelago. It does require a good level of fitness, but it is entirely optional – the lower platforms already offer a fine view, and you can just as easily spend the stop at the cave or on the beach.
  • Kayaking is an optional add-on. It is not part of the standard tour and must be selected at the time of booking – it cannot be added on the day.
  • Which boat will we be on? Highsea Tour assigns either the wooden boat or the red-and-white boat depending on the day’s schedule. Both carry around 150 guests and offer the same programme, but a specific boat cannot be reserved in advance.
  • When the park is closed. Mu Ko Ang Thong closes every year during the monsoon, from 1 November to 15 December, and no tours run in that window.
  • If the weather turns. Should the trip be cancelled because of sea conditions, you can choose between a full refund or rescheduling to another day.
  • Staying the night? This is the only Ang Thong boat option that lets you split the visit over two days at no extra charge – stay overnight on Koh Wua Talap and return on a later sailing. Tell us when you book so we can arrange the return leg. Accommodation is reserved separately and directly with the national park, which runs bungalows and a campsite at its headquarters on the island.
  • Prefer to move faster? A speedboat reaches the park in under an hour and fits four islands into a single day – see our Ang Thong speedboat tour.
  • Bring cash. The park entrance fee is collected on site by the National Park authority and cannot be paid by card.
